What Can I Do by 南拳妈妈

他妈的!!

这是什么垃圾系统嘛!

吸气。。。呼气。。。

好! 可以开始了!

Singapore, although a small little speck of dirt on the world map, has a transport system that's comparable to her big brothers' standards, or even better. Constructions to have MRT access to practically EVERYWHERE (even sentosa in yrs to come), if there's no space for MRT, there's LRT, if there's no need for LRT, there's still buses, if there's no buses, u still have the expensive but mostly reliable cabs to fall back on.

I left my house a while ago to take 179 to Boon Lay Station. Thankfully, I caught the bus after dashing across the road in the midst of PIE exiting traffic, if not its another 10-15 min wait since I visually baded farewell to 2 buses while i was walking over.

Reached Boon Lay at 8.39am like dat. Since it was early (In MY Standards), I entered the MRT gates. Missed the train departing, nvm, next train in 2 mins. Train came, announcement sounded, we were directed to the other side. Nvm, used to it. NOT THE FIRST TIME! The other train came in like, 3 min. Again, announcement. "Pls do not board the freaking train bcos we're trying to irritate u ppl... Thank you for ur cooperation" (My version) 3rd train came, NO announcement, so we presume it was safe to board. That was until almost everyone on the platform had boarded, announcement came. I heard some irritated grunts.

他妈的

I almost wanted to dash into the control station and whack some sense into the bugger. Its a good 10 mins wait at peak hours, seeing the trains come but not able to board, and being directed here, there, EVERYWHERE.

Angried, I went down the stairs, went to the gate which the control ppl can see me, and literally BANGED my wallet on the gate sensor. It made a loud noise, I noe, I heard it over my Sonys. I made sure they saw me. Go check ur system dude, this fella passed the gate 10 min ago, no passenger-carrying trains left the station, and walked out almost destroying ur gates. Made me waste.. lemme see.. abt a buck jus to pass thru the gate, made myself angry, n walk out of the gate, same station. Could I get a refund!?!?!??!?!

他妈的

I noe there will be a 3 trains delay ard 8.40++. I noe it was my fault for trying to leave Boon Lay at 8.40 when my work starts at 8.30am. It was already 8.51 when i left the station.

BUT BEFORE 9 IS STILL CONSIDERED PEAK HOURS!! If NOT, Y M I BEING CHARGED THE 1 BUCK SURCHARGE?? (I took a cab in the end. Reached office in 10 min)

So pls lah, SMRT, have some common sense. We're not stopping u from keeping ur trains. But we're NOT STOPPING u from keeping ur trains ALTERNATELY either rite?!?!?! Have one passenger-carrying train to JE/City Hall, keep the next train, have the 3rd one transporting all the way, spread the train-keeping evenly lah. At least this will reduce the insatisfactory levels of consumers.

N y r we being directed everywhere like monkeys? Y aint the platform fellas equipped with the knowledge of the train schedule? Althou i din really move with the crowd, leaning against the pillar until the 3rd train, I feel as thou we're being treated like monkeys. Or rather the blind leading the blind. If u dunno.. DUN DIRECT.. N how come the announcement is played impromptly?? So pissed!

Y m i paying the gate fees when i din receive any service???

But What Can I Do?

Today doesnt seem to be a good day when i started the day off feeling irritated. I ripped cds out with audiograbber but the quality is screwed, wasted my time jus bcos media player isnt detecting the album info. And I'm still feeling dazed..

I still have some stuff regarding multi-tier mktg to blog. Perhaps another time.

WAHHH.. I'm so super blur-ded today. Came in, on pc, sat down, and literally STARED at the monitor, thinking wat to do next. Wandered ard, finally remembered my urgent leave form. Cleared 72 emails. All dat, under a scorching sun. If things goes as planned, another suntanning session in 2 weeks time!!~ yay! I better go apply for Islander Card. Pics still in sd card. Upload later if there's anything good..

不得不爱 by 潘玮柏

My Valentine's baby admitted itself into ICU yest nite after it "whited-out". I've euthanized it, together with 1 yr 6 mths of attachment and laid it to rest in my drawer.

This National Day baby was fetched back from a Starhub shop in Suntec. Yup Starhub. I use Singtel, therefore, price without plan, $738. I like the model too much.

I went to 2 fireworks shows, yest at Marina South, I was at Esplanade, today's at Padang/Esplanade/Marina South, I was at Suntec. Nvrtheless, I still get to see some fireworks in action. Enuff talk, pictures below. (56k Warning!)

Where I belong by Tanya Chua

Patriotism

Eve of National Day.

I heard the ever-so-familiar tune of Majulah Singapura while i was getting ready to go office. Not from the radio(auto-off at 8am), nor the TV(wasnt on). It came from the toddlers at the kindergarten downstairs.

Kids "screaming" the National Anthem, and the other numerous songs which makes their appearance only during National Day, with little knowledge of wat it really means.(I dun understand either, or shld I say, I forgot the meanings.)

I m envious of them. THEY GET HALF DAYS!!! Or rather, ITS A NON-SCHOOLING DAY!

Sensing their innocence, I wondered when was the last time i sang Majulah Singapura, or even, say the pledge. Was it last yr? or 2 yrs ago when i went for the NDP preview? Couldnt rem.

On my way to office, I passed by countless HDB flats. Only a few units had hung the Singapore flag and amongst them, the Singapore flag exists in variety of colors; faded, eroded, weather-washed, and of cos, the brand new bright red ones.

A few yrs ago, I rem there was a penalty on those who 1)dun hang out the flag during National Day; 2)hang out discolored/disfigured flags; 3)Not keeping the flag within the stipulated timeframe after National Day; 4)Not hanging the flag properly(ya, ppl can hang it in all sorts of other ways round). THAT, was the time where u see most units on each block having the flags out and the whole city looks like a sea of reds and whites.

Gradually, the excitement faded off. Aunties start to think,"Aiya, Lazy lah, Next yr then hang lor. No big deal. Nobody catch."(The "next yr" will nvr come.) Elderly think,"Cannot reach the hook lah. Later I fall down how?" Yuppies think,"I'll be painting the town red anyway. No pt hanging" Kids think," Dunno mummy got hang flag out anot leh."

The true meaning behind hanging the Singapore flags during National Day has been overshadowed. Govt cant go door-to-door and force each and every household to hang their flags or face serious consequences. The next best thing they could do is to rope in the help of the town councils, who hang long flags all over the place and even "flying fox" resemblance across 2 buildings. All that, amidst the bland, empty, HDB corridors.

I dun hang out my Singapore flag. My mum didnt do it for a long time. Cant really be bothered. I aint a true-blue patroit anyway. National Day to me is 1) public holiday, no work! 2) NDP on tv.

The companies along the stretch of Jurong Port to Jalan Buroh showed their support to Singapore's 40th Birthday with merely a flag (tattered/faded/well-maintained)on a stick situated at their company gate. The more elaborative ones had other kinds of pillar flags or small flags which they take out yr-after-yr. Most probably, they too, had forgotten the celebration mood of National Day.

2005, 40 yrs from when LKY officially announced that Singapore will have her own independence.

Happy Birthday Singapore!

p.s. anyone interested in the fireworks display tmr? Since they're using our tax $$ for the display, might as well watch it live rite?

一指神功 by 潘玮柏

Aint a good Friday for me. Slogged like a moo moo since 9.10am when i got into my seat, all the way till 1pm when i went for lunch. In the period, I managed to clog more than half of my desktop with excel reports. Naturally, I deleted them after my report was completed AND EMPTIED the recycle bin. Then I did the duty permits. Then I sat down, wanting to continue on my new reconciliation database.

*double clicks on platinum.xls*

No, Not this.

*double clicks on gold.xls*

Not this too.

*double clicks on silver.xls*

NO?!?!

*goes into frantic mode, double clicking every excel file on my desktop which looks relevant.*

The result? ALL NO!!

I spent like 2 days staring at the computer working on it. My eyes looks like this -> @_@ Jus when I thot it wun be long b4 i can use the thing to cut down all the extensive/tedious/boring/time-wasting job of manual calculations, I FREAKING DELETED IT AWAY.

For FARK i call the file x.xls... #%^$%@#$%^#.. so inconspicous, so innocent-looking.

Pedestrian Road Safety Tips

1. Use the Traffic Light Crossings/Pedestrian Crossings, i.e. Cross at Designated Areas.
(What do u think the govt spend so much fixing those "candy canes" for? Other than controlling the vehicles..)
2. Be Patient, Cross Only When U're Allowed To.
(U're not a vehicle, r u? The green light is for vehicles, the "GREEN MAN" is for humans!)
3. If There's an Overhead Bridge Within ur Sight, Use It.
(The overhead bridge dats bloody 100m away is 100% safe. Unless u suay suay kana strike by lightning or the bridge collapse.)
4. Do Not Stand at the Road Edge.
(Aint u afraid of the cars dat get so dangerously close? Cars can oso go out of control when turning. Or perhaps ur handbag strap could get hooked on the side mirror n there u go. Bye to u!)
5. Observe the Traffic Carefully if There's No Other Alternatives Available.
(Note the traffic of the next lane, not just the nearest lane. The nearest lane could be jammed up bcos vehicles are turning, but not the next lane.)
--------------------

Singaporeans r horrendous when they're crossing the road. (Ya i noe, Thailand is worst, but their road system isnt facilitating the traffic too.) They have the consensus which dictates, As Long As I Can Run To The Kerb Before The Vehicle Comes, I Can Cross The Road. I feel like an idiot waiting for the lights to change while people proceeds to cross the road when the light is GREEN and its outside the BUS TERMINAL. (Who was it who said dat they'll fine people for jaywalking in bus terminals??)

Maybe I'm too safety-conscious. I worked for 2 MNCs dat places great importance on safety. My mindset had already been configured that way.

But, being the Libran I m, I sometimes dun preach wat I pray.

Every morning, I had to cross the freaking road that leads to PIE to get to the bus stop. Dat road, is exceptionally crowded during peak hrs. Red Light, Left Turn Vehicles, Green Light, Straight Going Vehicles. Sometimes they nvr seem to be an end, n u have to wait maybe 10 min for the next bus.

Dats abt it for now, its lunchtime and I'm dozing off, again.

Lost by Tanya Chua

Finally I saw Tanya Chua in person.

All I can say is.. She DAMN DAO. Different persona on and off the stage. And she looks top-heavy. Hmm.. Too much yoga?

I was walking beside a Sg rapper (I forgot his name, sorry for dat.. Sheik Heikel?) and I realise it only after a while. Next up, Tanya and Randall Tan. The escort was shooing even thou there wasnt anyone there. Shld've asked her for autograph at this time. She saw me, I was idling at the walkway barricade outside. Smiled to her, dats it.

I saw Sly and Taufik too. Ok, I was at the Taman Jurong CC opening thing bcos 1) Too bored/noisy at ah ma's place; 2) Walking distance; 3) Tanya. I was sitting on the barricade somewhere below the artistes' resting room at 2nd floor. Could only see the side view of Tanya the whole time. Sly and Taufik created chaos when they arrive. Taufik was doing something near the window and he saw me, waved to me, even thou i wasnt doing anything and there wasnt anyone near me. I jus smiled back. After Sly performed, he went back to the room, and somehow, he looked down the window and stared at me. I acknowledged him, smiled, gave him a wave, he WAVED BACK. Wat siahh.. These 2 fellas dat sent little gers screaming waved at me, BUT NOT TANYA! @#%#%^#$

Blahh.. It was a tired week. I've been sleeping late all due to MS, and my workload is like.. mountain high. Officially backup-ed the Biz Analyst and kana shoot a lot of stuff I don't know abt. Freak. Yest was the busiest. Last working day of the month and I haven done my 100+ internal licenses. Up comes 30 permits and duty payment and extension. Tired out. Left office at 6.30+ and got pulled for dinner. I had to take the numerous orders at Mac and I dunno wat I was there for. Haha. And I played MS till I fell asleep in front of the monitor. How tired could I be.

August next week. So fast.

On the verge of breaking down.

Irritated? Not really. Frustrated? Not very. %#%#$%^#&#$? ya..

Ha. Today was supposed to be a peaceful day. SUPPOSED. I've planned out my work while bathing. Morning, come in, check qty, slack till 10, analyst training, do duty permits, lunch, do my blanket permits, go class. That WAS my schedule.

8.00am Still in toilet shampooing. Sms comes.
Sms:"Mei I taking one day leave today. Later the canon guy coming at 10 to fix the fax machine u take care ok?"
Reply:"Ok.. Wat m i supposed to do?"
Sms:"I'll inform the guard house n when he arrives u pick him up at the lobby and let him fix the machine."
Reply:"kk.."

Minor interruption. Acceptable. Jus pick up the fella outside. Wats so difficult?

*Skip the rain, the LJS not worth-the-price breakfast purchase n the super long que for cab at JP.*

9.50am Surfing forums n munching thru one-inch thick OILY toast. Missed a few phone calls. Order Fulfilment colleague comes.
Fella:"Hey! Meeting at ABB. Lets go."
Me:"Wat time?"
Fella:"10pm"
*Looks at computer time. Displays 9.50am.*
Me:"10!?! 10 and u tell me NOW!! M i needed?? I got training leh."
Fella:"Ya. Need u to discuss the reporting issues and ur permits."
*Gives him a look, wipes my oily hand, IMs the biz analyst to postpone the training.*
Me:"Sure u need me?"
Fella:"Ya. Change into ur safety shoes."

And so I followed him to ABB, forgot all abt the Canon guy until 10.45am. Anyway he din arrived until 11+++ and my colleague got hold of someone else to handle him after I sms-ed her.

ABB lasted all the way until 12+. The OF fella was screaming for food. I still do not know wat I was there for, but I dun really like the new system. I jus hope it doesnt screw up everything and I dun have to do extra work. (For ur info, the OF fella is one mth my age senior, and 1 and a half yrs my work junior.)

Analyst training lasted abt 45 min. I was already in a drowsy mode. Gotta do the P&L trial run in preparation of his absence. YES! I'm gonna be backup-ing him from 28 Jul to 10 Aug. With my LITTLE knowledge and MINIMAL experience to cover a long list of his job scope. I hate backup-ing, but I have to backup so many ppl doing different and diverse jobs. Popular? More like easily bullied.

Terribly tired and sleepy right now. In fact, I cant concentrate recently, I'll jus doze off. Sometimes even when I have sufficient sleep.

Suffering from rheumatism (I think) for most part of last nite. The fact that I was in MapleLand until 2am (When I finally got my dark avenger) did not put me in a deep slumber. I think I slept at 3, woke up at 4.15, knee aching, slept, woke up at 5.40, ache some more, this time plus the arms, slept, mum tore down my door at 6.53am, rolled myself in the blanket and officially got out of bed at 7 to look for some notes.

Worst thing, I still have class later. Can someone separate my T42 from me so dat i can get more sleep and more things done?

花葬 by 同恩

Its another occupied week for me. Occupied, NOT busy. 3 lessons this week again, till 22nd Aug. Bought my SPsycho text but it doesnt seem to be tearing me away from my T42 (and MS).

Chanced upon 丁志勇's blog while i was abt to start blogging.

Permits coming in. Gonna fix these 2 up b4 i continue.

*5 mins later*

A weird last week I had. The previous week, I had one of my little fish food containers MIA with a cute little spoon. My sup keep insisting I misplaced it. I'm sure I din. The peculiar thing is, its the only container stolen among other "big-sized" fish food.

Last Monday, I refilled another one of my little containers with my DIY-mixed fishfood formula. The rest of the provisions have been kept in the unlocked cabinet above. I forgot to keep the little container when I left for home even thou I told myself to keep it when I saw it outside just b4 knocking off. The very next day, it was GONE.

Wednesday, my sup came back from his leave to find, 2 empty tanks and 1 missing female. He searched all over b4 calling me over to help. I found it within 10 seconds, stuck at the ledge near the cabinet door (He kept his fishes in the cabinet). 2 coppers lying side-by-side, resembling The Butterfly Lovers (They fought instead of making love while they're alive). The missing female is still missing up-to-date.

Then he begin to start all his nonsense, with the other Gemini in the office who complains abt her "sick and not eating" fish. 2 Geminis tag-team bullying 1 Libra. The story abt the "Little Children", etc etc. Made me kept most of my toys in the cabinet in fear.

DAMN I'm alone in the department (They went for some Copier Machine Usage Training). And I hear some sounds behind me! Sounds like paper rustling. Rat? Wind? (Wind ur head lah! Aircon room where got wind.) Yay! My boss's back at his seat aka the source of paper rustling.

Hungry Ghost Festival is coming. Better behave myself. >.<*

Thursday was crazily filled with meetings. Attended Customs dialogue at Revenue House, make no head no tail of wat they're discussing. Only understood some portions. Back in the office for no more than one hr, Quarterly meeting. I was struggling not to sleep while the big boss was talking, but it was hard.

Acquired a bookshelf from IKEA. 179cm and managed to squeeze into the cab. Great thinking on the cab driver's part to shove it into the front seat and the leg space. Need to find some time and motivation to transfer and arrange my numberous CDs and comics on it.

Took halfday on Friday to accompany San for her unofficial halfday off. Went for frog leg porridge at Chinatown and then its KTV. Nothing else we could do to pass our time. I dun wan movies, she doesnt wan shopping.

Dinner was decided only after a stroll up AND down Clarke Quay. Woah it was happening at that kinda hr(8pm++). We had Lamb Kebab with some kinda curry and greenish dip at some Dharma restaurant(Couldnt rem the name). Made me had stomachache. But I love the potato fries.

I finally went Indochine Forbidden City. We sat outside bcos 1)We couldnt find a spot inside; 2)I was dressed like an Australian surfer kid (Green Tee, "Baggy Levis", Converse sneakers + an over-sized bag covering my butt); 3)Basically too noisy inside. The drinks taste more like fruit punch, mine being mango juice (Terra Cotta) and San's lychee drink (Blue .. something). No kick.

Moved most of my stuff back on Saturday. Fishtanks, comics, etc etc. Got van, everything oso throw inside. I need some time to set up the now-sitting in a "not-so-nice" spot fish tank and all the wiring.

Boss pestering me over some figures which I dunno. ARGH! Gotta Go!

I've been slacking the whole day away. Had a fire evacuation drill in the morning. I was stuck at the walkie-talkie receiver jotting notes. Wonder when did it became my job. I'm kio sai queen. Everything oso kana shoot. I was even the personnel to do roll call. WTH!

I think I'll fall asleep in Psycho later.

NKF CEO and board quit
Interim chairman expected by weekend and a new board to be constituted quickly

By Bertha Henson
July 15, 2005

THEIR faces grim, National Kidney Foundation chief T.T. Durai and board chairman Richard Yong emerged from the Health Ministry building at 3.30pm yesterday.

They were hustled into cars, declining to say what had transpired during their meeting earlier with Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan.

This was what happened.

They had gone to consult Mr Khaw on what they should do in the wake of public outrage over the way the NKF rewarded its chief and misled people into thinking it needed more money.

They were told 'the status quo would not do'.

They asked if the board should make way for new leaders. Mr Khaw's reply: 'That would certainly be very helpful.' That phrase marked the end of a 37-year association between Mr Durai and Singapore's largest charity.

At 6.30pm, Mr Khaw announced the resignation of Mr Durai and the entire NKF board at a press conference attended by Mr Durai, Mr Yong and NKF board vice-chairman Alwyn Lim.

Asked about his future, the NKF CEO of 13 years told reporters that his 'paramount interest' now was to help Mr Khaw in the transition stage.

Businessman Piragasam Singaravelu, 45, whom the NKF sued for libel in December 1998, described the en masse resignation last night as the 'best news for Singaporeans, especially those who donated to NKF'.

Right up to yesterday morning, it had looked as though Mr Durai, 57, intended to ride out the controversy that began with NKF's lawsuit against The Straits Times over expensive toilet fittings - and ended with disclosures it had paid its CEO $1.8 million over three years, allowed him first class air travel and maintained his private car.

Calls for Mr Durai's resignation escalated with close to 40,000 signatures put on an online petition, and more than 6,800 donors cancelling their monthly contributions to the charity in two days.

The NKF Cancer Show on Channel U last night made no attempt to solicit donations from the viewing public, in line with the suspension of canvassing activities.

Mr Khaw hopes to find an interim chairman by the weekend and get a board constituted quickly to review NKF's practices, serve kidney patients and restore public confidence in the institution.

Among the board's tasks: To determine if the NKF reserves, now standing at $260 million, would last 40 years as in the 'rosy picture' painted in the media, or the NKF's 'tragic' three years.

Despite the 'unfortunate turn of events', Mr Khaw issued the reminder that the NKF had done much good over the years, with Singapore's dialysis care among the best in the world.

The NKF had transformed itself into such an effective fund-raiser that it was he who had asked Mr Durai to branch into serving cancer patients as well, he disclosed.

Although some might argue that 'some of the techniques may be a little bit outside OB markers', he said he was in favour of more 'NKFs' with professionals running their fund-raising operations.

With one big caveat.

Because the 'stakeholders' are donors, they need to know as much as possible about the finances and practices of those out for the charity dollar.

'As I always maintain, donation is voluntary. So it is self-regulating in that sense because if you are so opaque, secretive or whatever, who would donate to you? But the more transparent you are, I think you win greater public trust,' he said.

The larger issue, however, is whether Singaporeans are ready for charities to be run like corporations with key performance indicators and employment contracts.

He asked: 'Should VWOs be uncontroversial and remain amateurish, old-style, collect little... or is there not a place in Singapore for a different kind of VWO?'

But what was clear: he himself would continue donating to the NKF because patients would benefit. The question of whether too much money had been collected could always be settled by channelling the money to other causes.

He made a plea to the public not to delve into 'history', but to restore the NKF by building on its strengths. 'I am determined to help... NKF... emerge from this incident even stronger so that patients continue to be served.'

Last night's announcement of an interim committee replacing the current board was welcomed all round. Those contacted want the committee to go through NKF books with 'a fine-tooth comb', as insurance adviser Robert Young, 53, put it.

Said Mr Brandon Lee, 33, a businessman: 'We also want the Government to put in measures to make sure such things don't happen again.'

Mr Johari Marzuki, 46, father of four and an NKF patient for 15 years has only one item on his wish list: 'I hope people don't react emotionally and cancel their donations. There are so many lives that depend on it.'

猜不透 by 戴佩妮

The Peanut Story

Mrs GCT, although I agree that $600k/annum for a CEO of a multi-million dollar organisation is little, I beg to differ ur peanut talk.

I hope u still remember u're the patron of a NON-Profit Organisation. NON-Profit, according to the definition below, obtains its funds through public/private funding.

Where does the $600k comes from? Donations, Taxes, etc, it all flows out from the pockets of the slogging citizens. Associating $600k with peanuts is absurd. Does the government want us to give peanuts, as in the real nuts, for our income taxes, duty, cpf contributions, etc etc? We'll be more than happy to do so.

Estimation 50 nuts per packet of peanuts. Each packet costs $2.
600,000/50 x 2 = $12,000, 6,000 packets of peanuts.

With the salary Durai gets PER MTH, he could swim in his peanut pool, or build an empire selling peanut butter. Possibly abt 1/3 of Singapore's population does not even have an annum of $24,000, and we're contributing WALNUTS to the government in taxes and what not.

$600k, non-profit organisation, I assume its NOT taxable. Furthermore, y is there BONUS for non-profit organisations? An out-of-this-world bonus of 12 mths for performance? What type of performance is taken into consideration here, may i enquire? The increased no. of patients? The increased amt of donations?

Some rough estimations
NKF's reserves. $250 million.
$250,000,000/$600,000 = 416 years.
Interest earned from reserves per yr. 0.5%/yr
$250,000,000 x 0.005 = $1,250,000
Donations per show
600,000 calls x $5 = $3,000,000
5 shows per yr, Donations
$3,000,000 x 5 = $15,000,000
Each patient's annual dialysis cost.
$2,600 x 12 = $31,200
Interest alone can support
$1,250,000/$31,200 = 40 patients.
Current dialysis expense per yr
$2,600 x 1,800 patients x 12 = $56,160,000
Maintenance for fish tanks, dialysis, blah blah;
Salary, staff benefits, etc etc
$n
Note: NKF only subsidises, they pay less than $2,600 per patient per yr. And the money goes back into their account.

Conclusion: NKF is rich.

From the definition below, Profit is defined as the residual value gained from business operations. The only other channel of income, apart from donations, is the dialysis fees of the patients. $2,600 per patient per mth. It is reportedly higher than KDF. What is the rational for the high charges? To get a larger profit margin?

Yes, Durai did a fantastic job increasing awareness of kidney dieases and cancer. He created the immediate link between kidney failure and NKF. He spread awareness not just locally but globally. We do not deny his hard work. But look at the way he carried himself. Arrogantly and self-importantly. Is that the image that NKF want to protray? That kidney patients cannot live without NKF?

The NKF originally founded by Mr Khoo was a small and humble foundation, supporting kidney patients in the background. In the recent years, it became increasingly commercialised. There's even talks of an IPO. An IPO for charity!?!! Bad joke. Everywhere u go, u see NKF advertisements. Awareness is created, but people gets sick from over-publicity. Negative rumours flies, particularly from the needy who were rejected bcos they do not fulfil the less than $800 total family income requirement. What if the family's total income is $1k but has 5 dependents, aka 2 retired parents and 3 children?

Its true people tend to make a big hoo-haa and forget all about it in the next minute. Its reaching its hoo-haa peak now. NKF had taken on the suit hoping to restore their tarnished image. Up till now, they had dug themselves a deeper hole to climb out. If u're trying to repair the damage, shut ur trap!

Unless this whole thing is a big scam to cover up some undertable stuff (think evading taxes.)and Durai is made the scapegoat.

Bad publicity kills, and who are the victims? Durai might get a few yrs in jail if the court convicts him as a cheat. He loses his peanuts and 1st class travel. NKF gets lesser donations.

Who are the REAL victims?

The kidney patients.

Patron: It must

July 14, 2005

SHE'S the patron of the NKF.

So for Mrs Goh Chok Tong (right), this whole episode has been sad and disappointing.

But despite the resulting bad publicity, she will not be abandoning it.

In fact, after Mr Durai's dramatic withdrawal of his defamation lawsuit, she came out defending him and the NKF.

She asked: 'What's SPH to gain out of this?'

'NKF is doing a very good job helping the sick.

'Who benefits (from this lawsuit)? What's the purpose of it?'

Mrs Goh made these remarks yesterday afternoon, when The New Paper asked for her comments on the case.

She said that all the NKF had sought was a retraction of the alleged defamatory paragraphs, as it gave the wrong impression to the public.

But, she said: 'You have expanded the case and extended it to NKF's transparency.'

Mrs Goh, dressed in a tan-coloured suit and leopard-print shirt yesterday, had been present for most of the court proceedings over the two days it was before the High Court.

When asked if she thought Mr Durai's $600,000-a-year pay was excessive, she replied: 'For a person who runs a big million-dollar charitable organisation, with a few hundred million in reserves, $600,000 a year is peanuts.'

Asked if she would continue her patronage of the foundation, she said: 'Yes, I'll continue as a patron of the foundation. Yes, why not?

'I have complete faith in the NKF and in T T Durai. I believe he's doing a very good job.'

----------------------------------------------

A non-profit organization (often called "non-profit org" or simply "non-profit" or "not-for-profit") is an organization whose primary objective is something other than the generation of profit (Profit is defined as the residual value gained from business operations. Profitability refers to the amount of profit received relative to the amount invested, often measured by a rate of profit or rate of return on investment.)

Such organizations are typically funded through a mix of private or public (ie. government) donations (A donation is a gift to a fund or cause, usually for charitable reasons.).

They may also generate income through their own commercial activities, but the extent to which they are able to do this may be constrained, or the use of such income may be restricted in certain ways.

A charity is a type of non-profit organization, and some non-governmental organizations may also be non-profit organizations.

Structure
Most non-profits do not have members, although they may. The non-profit may also be a trust or association of members. The organization may be controlled by its members who elect the Board of Directors. (A board of directors is a group of individuals chosen by the stockholders of a company to promote their interests through the governance of the company. Board members in most legal jurisdictions have specific fiduciary duties, whereby they act for the benefit of others.)

Although the characteristic of not earning or "making" a profit is widely believed by the general public to be definitive, most experts today agree that it is actually legal and ethical restrictions on the distribution of profits to owners or shareholders that is the defining characteristic of nonprofits.

Status
In most countries, non-profit organizations may apply for a tax exempt status; this means that finacial donors may claim back any taxes paid on money donated. A primary difference between a non-profit and a for-profit corporation is that a non-profit does not issue dividends, and may not enrich its directors. However, like for-profit corporations, non-profits may still have employees and can compensate their directors within reasonable bounds.

Goals
Such "organizations" are often charities or service organizations; they may be organized as a not-for-profit corporation or as a trust, a cooperative or they may be purely informal. Sometimes they are also called foundations, or endowments that have large equity funds. Most foundations give out grants to other not-for-profit organizations, or fellowships to individuals. However, the name foundation may be used by any not-for-profit corporation -- even volunteer

Laws
Most countries have laws governing the setting up, running, and reporting requirements of these organizations. Most larger organizations are required to publish their financial reports detailing their income and expenditure for the public. In many aspects they are similar to business entities though there are often significant differences. Both non-profit and for-profit entities must have board members, steering committee members, or trustees who owe the organization a fiduciary duty of loyalty and trust.

NKF Petition

I jus signed on it. 1257.

Name
1257. Nicole

Comments/Message to NKF
Seriously disappointed. Does Durai understand the story of the boy who cried wolf? Deception gets you nowhere, other than down. Look at the kidney patients, look at the fella who forked out $50 from his $1k salary. Dun you even have a slight hint of guilt while sitting in the posh comfy 1st class airplane seats while patients lie on the dialysis beds? YOU, bring a disgrace to humanity. What are all the NKF shows for? Why are the celebrities risking their bodies for? To fund your luxurious habits? I hope you think of them, even for one-tenth of a second, before you spend your next cent.

I detest NKF. Not that I'm cold-hearted. I had bad experiences with them.

1998. 16 years old. I was working my vacation job waiting for Poly to start classes. Pay was meagre but I didnt have much commitments then, so I managed to have some savings. One of the aunties there introduced me to this NKF giro scheme which will deduct a sum of money as donation to NKF monthly. I signed up, channeling a small amt of money to NKF's account. $5? $15? $20? $50? I forgot. Poly started class. I've used a large portion of my savings on books and such. Basically left with no money to deduct. NKF started sending letters informing of transaction failures. I terminated the giro donation once i found out how to go about doing it. It was perhaps half a yr later. I still have to answer why did I want to terminate.

After that, I keep receiving calls asking if I want to take up a donation card for NKF. The way they put it, it seems forceful. And its always some indian girl who slanged all her words. I told her, NO I'M NOT INTERESTED. She continued with her script, ignoring my rejection, pestering me until I kept quiet, leaving my phone on the table. Happens not once, a lot of times. Please, I told u, I'm NOT interested. Delete my number!

I hate Cao Qi Tai. He's involved in practically every charity show. He's good at urging, but it puts people off. Stop forcing people to call when the numbers are not jumping. Donations should be VOLUNTARY! We're not obliged to call even if you are attempting to jump from a 30 storey building. We donate WITHIN our means, not dialing the number because of some celebrity tearing.

The 1 show per yr became half-yearly. Now it innovates to cover cancer patients. Practically about 1 charity show every 2 months. With more than 500,000 calls per show, I seriously dun see the need to increase the number of shows even though they claim the patients are increasing. Not like they're fully paying the dialysis, transplants, etc. The few millions they having sitting in the bank, could generate a large amount of interest. $$ grows $$.

It was like 1 hr ago when i signed the petition. It now registered 2200++ signatures and counting.

To Durai.

Durai, your $600,000 annual can buy you a Mercs and 1st class travel. Do you realise it can also treat several patients? I'm not adding a MR in front of ur name bcos u're not fit to. I'm glad I only spend a few mths contributing to ur petrol. I feel sorry for the 500,000 calls per show that are hoping to get the condo or the car carrot. I got disgusted when u introduced prizes for donations. U're treating Singaporeans like DONKEYS! Donkeys, Carrots, GET THE LINK?

And who noes, the charity shows could be rigged. The cars and condos are given to people related. There's no transparency.

Non-profit organisation so to say, but y are u getting 12 MONTHS BONUS!?!! Even the oil majors dun get that amt. $600k per annum. I did some calculations. Its abt $25k per month including the bonuses in the calculations. $25k PER MONTH! Its almost my annum + bonus! You get it IN A MTH! In a NON PROFIT ORGANISATION!

If u say its from ur other biz dealings, $600k a yr means u're not focused on helping the patients. Y fund ur transport claims from NKF when u can do it with ur other biz dealings? If you say ur transport is peanuts, and ur $600k is from ur other biz dealings, I'm sure ur other biz dealings would be able to fund ur peanuts oso.

Mrs GCT supports u. $600k is peanuts compared to wat other CEO's are getting. But, u must remember. U're running a NON-PROFIT organisation. Non-Profit, meaning its for the aid of mankind. People will render it as voluntary work, which shouts no or nominal pay. Declaring an extravagant salary at an inappropriate time will stir up the feelings of the common citizens who do not understand the implications. Denying it is worse. U could have cooled down the anger if u had not showed off ur wealth. A Nissan Sunny could have saved u so much compared to ur NKF funded Mercs.

Not forgetting ur posh, CBD area kinda building at Kim Keat. Why do u need such a grand building for when the most u'll get is some VIPs and they dun come often. Having a humble and small building would have been so much reputable. What abt the gold plated tap that costs $1k? The german toilet? Do u WORK IN THE TOILET?

I hope you still have some human sense in u after withdrawing from the case. At least step down.

Regards
Nicole

NKF boss earns $25,000 monthly

By Karen Wong

July 13, 2005

HE earns $25,000 a month.

And received 10 months' bonus in 2002 and 12 months' bonus in 2003 and 2004.

He also sometimes flies first class on business trips and had a $1,100 toilet bowl installed in his office bathroom.

He is Mr T T Durai, the chief executive officer of the National Kidney Foundation.

Mr Durai and the NKF are suing Singapore Press Holdings and The Straits Times' senior writer Susan Long for defamation.

NKF and Mr Durai have taken issue with an article by Ms Long, published on 19 Apr last year, which quoted a contractor saying that he had been asked to install in Mr Durai's office suite on the 12th floor of NKF's new building, 'a glass-panelled shower, a pricey German toilet bowl and a $1,000 gold-plated tap'.

Their case, argued by Senior Counsel Michael Khoo, is that this allegation was baseless and had conveyed, in the 'most sensationalist and arresting terms' that NKF dishonestly frittered away donations on unnecessary luxuries for themselves.

Yesterday was the first day of the hearing before Justice Tan Lee Meng.

Mr Durai was grilled by SPH's lawyers from Drew & Napier, Senior Counsel Davinder Singh, who is being assisted by Mr Adrian Tan.

Their case is that NKF did order costly bathroom fittings and were installed, not in their new building, but in Mr Durai's temporary office.

And that the allegedly offending paragraphs must be read in context with the rest of the article which is about the controversy surrounding NKF, and its transparency, or lack of.

'SUPPRESSED INFORMATION'

Mr Singh said Mr Durai and the NKF had 'suppressed information' when, during the first exchange of court documents before the trial, NKF did not give the invoice of the 'expensive tap', which was relevant to the case.

It was only until the lawyers wrote to them again and asked for it, that they gave it to them. Mr Durai, however, denied it, saying that NKF does not suppress information, adding that he did not know which installation the lawyers were referring to as they had not asked about the 'original' fittings which have since been replaced.

To which, Mr Singh said: 'Let us talk about transparency. Forget transparency outside. Let us talk about transparency in this court.

'Here, everyone knows that we are talking about these fittings that are in issue. We asked you what these fittings were that were installed and you tell us about the replaced fittings, not the original one.

'And that, you tell the court, is an honest answer?'

Mr Durai: 'The way I looked at it: What were the fittings installed. If you had asked me the question 'What was originally installed?', my answer would have been different.'

Mr Singh: 'Were the fittings that are in issue installed? Yes or no?'

Mr Durai: 'Previously, yes.'

It turns out that the 'original' bathroom installations included a mixer tap which cost about $990, excluding the 10 per cent discount.

---------------------------------
First-class travel a clever tactic?

SPECULATION over Mr T T Durai's first class travel habits have been going around for a while.

He has even successfully sued and obtained apologies and damages from two people in the past, for saying that he flies first class.

The NKF's position has always been that it pays for their senior executives' business-class travel from Singapore.

That's a perk. Their 'entitlement'.

But wait, there's a catch.

NKF's policy is that it pays for its senior staff, including Mr Durai, to fly business-class at Singapore Airlines' rates from Singapore.

But it has enabled Mr Durai to fly first class. How?

Clever tactics and 'a play with words'.

It seems that as long as Mr Durai didn't exceed SIA's published rate for their business-class tickets for a trip, he could go ahead and use his 'entitlement' to travel first class.

Mr Davinder Singh fleshed out this point in his cross-examination of Mr Durai in court yesterday.

Mr Singh said: 'Is it not your duty, as a trustee of people's money, to make sure you get the best value for money on a business-class seat, instead of deploying this clever tactic of using one of the highest published rates to get first class on another plane?'

Mr Durai tried to say again that it was a board decision, but when the judge told him to answer the question straight, he replied that it was.

---------------------------------
Shock over his salary

THERE were gasps when Mr T T Durai revealed his salary.

Mr Singh said: 'So, for the past three years, you have earned about, what $1.8m?'

Mr Durai: 'Yes.'

Mr Singh: 'From the NKF?'

Mr Durai: 'Yes.'

Mr Singh: 'Should the man who earns $1,000 a month and takes out $50 from his pay packet thinking that he's going to save lives not know that that is the kind of money you earn?'

Mr Durai: 'There is nothing wrong with the money I earn.'

Mr Singh: 'I am not talking about anything wrong. Please do not get defensive.... $1.8 million. I wonder what is wrong....

'Should the man who takes $50 out of his $1,000 pay packet... thinking that he is going to save a fellow Singaporean, in the bed... should he not know that some of that money is going, or has gone into the $500,000, $600,000 pay package for you?'

Mr Durai: 'Surely he knows.'

Mr Singh: 'Tell me how does he know. Please show us the document to back up the statement you have made on oath.'

At this point, Mr Durai tried to explain that people donate money to the NKF's dialysis programme to save lives. But the judge cut him short.

And so, London won. They'll host the 2012 Olympics. But before the Londoners could get over their late-night celebration partying hangover, they had bomb sharpnel confetti to add to the excitement. The morning papers on 7 July splashed "London gets Olympic bid". On 8 July, it carried "London gets bombed". What an irony. Those victims of the bombs must be feeling injust. They could just be common residents who are not even bothered by the Olympics bidding. How vengeful they must have felt. May the Higher Powers rest their souls.

An unproductive week at work. I haven done my accounts yet. Always distracted by trainings, this, that, dozing off and other people's problems. Very irritated. I wish for a peaceful week next. Ekks! I have to go InterCont on Tues for whole day training! Freak.

Yeah I've started my Psycho classes. Its darn bored. So boring that I dazed and daydream thru. The lecturer is good, but the notes are bad. He's practically not speaking from the notes and the notes are too wordy. Looks like I have to go get the text and do my own notes.

Celebrated Ethel's 20th birthday on Tues at ktv. Went shopping for her present on Friday. Finally she got her adidas jacket even thou its not in the right shade of color. (The brown is quite nice lah.. dun hiam anymore..)

Drumming retro songs today. Grease, Summer Nights, blah blah. Don't look small on oldies, the speed is super fast and the rhythms get u caught up and go missing.

Went on a shopping spree. Not quite a shopping spree, most of those stuff are not mine! I'm like a mobile atm. Bought RR's present + her rey MS. I only bought the Cagarilli voice doll. These stuff amounts $160+++. *faints* To clarify, my doll only costs $30.

I'm moving home in a week's time~ YAYY!!!~~~ I dun care wat she's gonna say anymore~ making a fuss outta it. My ah ma's given her consent. Hooray~

一路向北 by 周杰伦

I'm TRAUMATIZED.

I think I need tranquilizers. Never b4 had I watched a movie with my body so huddled together. Never b4 had I wanted to grab the next person during a movie. Never b4 had I felt that my heart will stop beating anytime during a movie. Never had I felt like walking out of the cinema bcos I felt uncomfortable from the movie. Never b4 had I scolded so much expulsives during a movie. No ghosts, no bombs. The movie?

WAR OF THE WORLDS

If there wasnt an arm rest between us, I think RR, Meow and me would be huddled in a bundle which jumps every time there's a sudden sound. The source of the energy spurts? RR. She was practically jumping with every sound. The suspense, the breath-stopping scenes. N my bladder was abt to burst at the exciting part from the milk tea I had b4 the show. Crossing my legs to control. I dun wanna miss!

Other than the lame ending, I've got nothing to complain to Steven Spielberg. Y the HELL is dat Robbie in Boston B4 Ray??!?!?! He took a lift from the aliens?? So weird. Happy family ending. Wat siah.

WOTW totally made up for the disappointment in INTIAL D. I wasn't very interested in the anime. I admit I wanted to watch Initial D for Jay, and he was cute. BUT! At least have some DECENT STORY PLOT!! Whats with Jay racing with Shawn, then Edison so friendly with Jay, and ends up the 3 of them helping each other out? I came out blurrer than b4 I went in and RR was critizing it from start till end. Only the cars were great, thou they made a mistake in Nissan Skyline which RR keeps complaining abt. Its a 4WD, it wun tilt like AE86 when turning! It did made me have an impulse to learn driving thou.

I had a huge embarrassment at the start of Initial D. We bought the tix at 4pm, stating we want tix for the 4.40 show. We got our tix, we went strolling. I checked my watch at 4.38 and exclaimed. We rushed up and into the theater looking for our seats. Row E, row F, row G, row H, row I... We reached Row J but there was someone in our seat. N the show had already started, even thou we reached on the dot. We shifted in and asked the fella for clarification. He searched a while for his tix, while we were like crouching in the middle of the theater. 3 mins past and he couldnt find his tix. I took my tix and showed his mate. Another 1-2 min of searching, his mate told me my tix was for the 1840 show. 1840!?!! 6.40!?!!! We quickly walked out of the row and to the back b4 anyone throws stuff at us. The ticketer gave us the WRONG time, and the usher DIN CHECK! Looking around, we settled into 2 empty seats 2 rows from our designated seats, hoping that no one else will come in for "our" seats. Thankfully the view is better. What a big boo boo!

I woke up damn early yest to get Penny to sign again. But the fella upstairs forbids. Penny checked in long b4 we reached, or perhaps we din notice her and we waited for like 2 hrs in vain. NVM. There will be a next time.

Zoe made me drop my jaw last nite with her dice stacking. But can they give her an appropriate dress for the occasion? Its so obscene. Its for charity and the focus is on the dice, not.. THERE..

ITS INDEPENDENCE DAY! Not! My school term starts today. *boohoo..*

爱疯了 by 戴佩妮

我爱疯了....

I'm so freaking ecstatic right now. Super Happy Over the Moon!

Firstly, I was at Penny's autograph session with Ethel, San and Ang. Only some pathetic small meows ard. We waited for about 1 hr, sitting near the fence, ears blasted by the music, tokking crap. 3.10pm, DJ pops up the stage. Blah, blah, blah. Continues waiting. 3.20pm. DJ again. Intros Penny. People started blocking us out. Darn Freak. Penny goes on stage. Sings a few songs. My Lumix clicking non-stop. Woot! Autograph session starts.

I've got the 1st batch of disc, without the vcd. I qued together with the rest of the folks, but I wasnt allowed to sign with them. So, I joined the other que. Last few. I went up, I wanted to sign the lyrics book but not allowed too. Darn. Nvm. Penny signed on my album cover. We did a left hand shake. Conversation starts.

Penny *Smiling*: 谢谢.
Me *Smiling*: 谢谢. 这张... 很吊! *right thumbs up* (I din intend to use 吊 but it came out)
Penny *Eyes Big*: Oh! *哈哈哈!* 是吗? 谢谢,谢谢!! Eh! 你也会用吊啊?
Me: Arh! 会啊! Ya! 你哥哥的也很棒!
Penny *very happy mode*: 真的吗? 谢谢,谢谢!!
I was smiling all the way, collecting my album and abt to walk off at this time.
Penny just keep laughing and thanking me.
Penny: 我帮我哥哥向你说谢谢!!
I nodded and smile back. In total Ecstacy!

I joined the folks. They asked me what I said to Penny that made her so happy. I told them the 吊 story. Ang said Penny had a really big reaction and laughing VERY LOUDLY! Totally different from the others. Haha! I hope she remembers me. But I was kicking myself when I told them the story. WHY THE FREAK DIDNT I PASS THE LYRICS BOOK FOR HER TO SIGN!!?! She'll CONFIRM sign on it! My mind was too mesmerized by her. AND WHY THE FREAK DIDNT I POINT TO ANG FOR HIM TO TAKE VIDEO!?!! Anyway Ang said his view was blocked.

7 hours after the autograph session. I kicked myself again. MY AUTOGRAPH WAS SMUDGED!! #$@$^#^%$#$%#^$%@$ I'm going airport to get her to sign on my lyrics book later!!!! I MUST!! @!##%@$@#$#$%#@!$#! SO GEK XIM!

We squeezed in a ktv slot and we're seated IN THE HALL!! Woot!! No rooms. Hall better than nothing to do! Just have to endure human figures walking past the screen and I believe we cracked quite a few windows. I nvr realise its been 2 yrs since I went ktv with Ethel. 2 FREAKING LONG YEARS. Time flies. It was fun! With a number pad, 1 cranky blurring mic, 1 audience + other cannefares.

7.30pm. Ktv ends. We chionged a cab to Live It Up! concert. Scouted ard for a spot to place the given floor mats on. It resembles WOMAD! The crowds of ppl sitting on the grass, the stage, the spotlights. We camped at the side, in front of 2 aunties on chairs. Landmark. We bored ourselves thru performances from those mediacorp artistes. 9.30pm. PENNY!!!!! But a lot of ppl left during her performance. Freak out!! We advanced like 80 metres towards the stage. Still, she's so TINY that she appeared as a scratch of white light among the stage lights in my Lumix. She sang 3 songs. Cool free-style. Weet!! I'm sooooo mesmerized by her!

Reached home ard 11.45pm. Received my bridging course results. D for both subjects. D!!!!! Maths still acceptable BUT ECONS!?!! D = 34-39 pts. Just pass. Anyway I got the exemption and I dun think this result will be in the full results slip. Just have to accept the fact since I only studied 4 hours combined for both subjects. HAHA. I deserved it. Better buck up. Darn High Standards they have at UOL.

Mapling with panda eyes.

San Antonio Spurs are the 2005 NBA Champions!

After a finger-crossing, fist-clenching 48 game minutes, Spurs took Game 7 of the NBA Finals with an 81-74 win over the Detroit Pistons. What a closely fought game it was. 10 lead changes, 16 times tied.

Robert Horry came out firing. 1st quarter, 18-14 Spurs. Great D they had.

Duncan showed his rebounding magic in the 2nd quarter. Half time scores stands at 39-38 Pistons.

Pistons extended the lead to 5 within the 1st few minutes of 3rd quarter. Manu and the Spurs did a 7 straight points run to inch within 2. Duncan scored 12 in the 3rd to draw at 57 per piece.

Manu roared in the 4th. 11 points in the last 10 minutes, including a 3 pointer, a monster dunk and an easy layup. Pistons could only move as close as 4 points in the last 3 minutes. Couple of Pistons had 5 personals while desperately trying to buy some time and hope for missed free throws. They didnt get that. All they got was Manu and Duncan swishing the net. Final buzzer blew. SBC center erupted.

I heaved my first sigh of relief since the 6 points deficit in the 3rd quarter. Manu is my MVP, but the commissioner awards it to Duncan.

Its a wonder how Spurs rebuilt themselves since their 1st ring in 1999. David Robinson, Steve Kerr, Stephen Jackson, Sean Elliot and a couple of other guys i couldnt recall on hand, left the team following the championship. The team was built around Robinson. Now it was Duncan. A few years down, it would be Duncan AND Manu AND Parker.

A great example which depicts a championship couldnt be won without team effort. Duncan shone, Manu starred, Big Shot Rob contributed, the rest of the Spurs supported.

Cool team!

WHO IS THIS VAIN GIRL BLOGGING??
I DUN NOE U!!!

I've became very vain. I've a whole array of facial wash, 4 bottles of shampoo, 2 bottles of conditioner, 3 bottles of hair treatment mask/wax/watever, and loads of miscellaneous creams/hair wax/hair gel, etc etc.

I DUN RECOGNISE MYSELF!!

Where's the fella who uses watever shampoo/body foam/facial wash is available?
Where's the fella who never uses hair gel/wax/conditioner?
Where's the fella who cuts her hair damn short so that there's no need to comb her hair??

I DUNNO...

I just squandered my bucks at the pharmacy again. I bought the beer treatment shampoo and wax, 30ml aloe vera gel, St Ive's face mask, Tiger Balm neck and shoulder relief cream. At 3 pharmacies. I paid at Watson's THRICE. Bcos i couldnt remember to buy the all items together. The Tiger Balm was an impulsive buy. AGAIN. Someone pls call all the pharmacies and ban me from buying.

Stupid Hair, Stupid Face, Stupid Head, Stupid ME!!

Woman are trouble. Really. See all the bucks spent on their already quite perfect hair/complexion. See all the time spent waiting for the wax/mask/treatment cream to do its work. See all the space wasted on their "artillary". See all the expensive undies that wun be seen most of the time.

I've became a woman.

And I still need to get a bottle of perfume.

Office is my 2nd home.

I've been working late so frequently, I'm feeling weird leaving office at 5.35pm. Since 2pm after coming back from lunch, my eyes were stuck on the P&L,CM and OPEX for Distribution, trying to work out the formula for COS. 3.30pm. Mystery Solved. Took a while more to link the info. 4pm. Started compiling the stuff together. 4.30pm. Cracked my brain to write out the findings in a simpler form. 5pm. Email sent. Case closed. Boss asked abt some losses before getting cut off by a call which lasted till 5.30pm. I was slacking around the whole time. 5.30pm. i wandered off to the other end of the office planning to kajiao ppl. The ppl already left!! 5.30pm on the dot! Wandered back to my seat.

Pack up. Zao.
But I have the feeling I did not do something which requires me to do. I do not remember anything impt. Syndromes of leaving early.

I've became a workaholic!

Firstly.. Hi Sheryl!! kekkeke.. wats ur blog again? i link u up..

Just realised it was 1am. Reached home ard 11.45. Tired.

Drums at 4. i got into a cab at 4! I was 20 min late!! freak! Jamming Bad Company again. Missed last week's class, go in a bit blur, whack like nobody's biz. hohoho, like everyone else notices in the midst of the chaos. Stress relief~

Met up with the poly folks, Sheryl, i haven seen u since.. ?? 1 yr? 2 yrs? Everyone still the same as the previous gathering which is half a yr ago, except for maybe me, the long hair part. Subway dinner, I'm not a Subway person. Who would ever thot u can find green chilli in cheese steak sandwich?? n its not hot as in atsui that hot. Proceeded to Mandarin Hotel for drinking session. Ordered Brandy Alexandra to try it out. Darn strong. Tastes like Bailey's Irish Cream. I prefer stuff like brandy with sprite. No cream.

Eat tok drink take photo. Seems like nothing much else to do on gatherings. Hmm..

Sheryl, Jeff and Cassandra left early.. So left with..

反覆记号 by 蔡依林

2 min 21 sec left. Game 4. Spurs 71 Pistons 97. Pistons have tied the series. OMG!

Yeah folk, arm ur cameras, go to the nearby service station and shoot the discount board. 23% discount + 3%.. Nvr so high before. The 3 retailer ladies are fighting it out. Exxon, Shell, Caltex. from 10% 2 days ago, to 13, 14, 17, 20, finally 23% last night. The 3% is for those card users i think. This is seriously crazy when oil prices are rising in US. Seriously, does it make a difference when all oil companies increase their discounts with a few hours difference? The motorists will pump more frequently but its not really significant. Dunno what they're trying to do. No wonder the other day someone was asking me if it is compulsory to include gst in discount price. I refered her to someone else better qualified to answer her question. They planned it before-hand.

Final score 71-102. Can't Spurs win on Piston's court?

I'm finally free~ Free from statements, free from SOX!! yay! Still a few days b4 Biz Planning, can relax 1st. Very very sleepy. I look like a vampire with panda eyes now.

Ahhh.. super sleepy. Slept at 2 after being hooked onto a new game. Yipz. NEW GAME. 武林群侠传. A continuation of 金庸群侠传 which i'm an avid fan of during my secondary school days. Its THAT old. And I still remember its in DOS version. This new one runs in Windows, luckily its compatible with XP although i have to change the language settings. The guy lead looks like a cross between Daniel Chan and Xiao Zhu. The only thing i missed was the ability to steal things from people's treasure chests. This game took it out and inputted many new features. Fishing, hunting, collecting herb, mining coal, to sell and earn for money. The bad thing about this game is you have to keep reading all the chinese words.

I've been leaving office at 7+ consecutively for 3 nights including last friday. This isnt good... I've finally finished my statements, its SOXing time now, over and done with it today and I'll be free!~

SOX - Sarbanes-Oxley Act
SOX - Slogging it Out eXercise

Nobody likes SOX, but it still makes its appearance every 6 mths.

I've got 3 new controls which they quietly put. Very smart. But compared to getting thrown 16 new controls and taking out the previous one, I'll take the 3 controls definitely.

Spurs gave away Game 3 of the NBA finals. Manu and Duncan are not up to their standards. Its 2-1 now. I hope Detroits won't repeat their history.

Its the BAH ZHANG SEASON!!

But I only ate 2 so far.. I miss my ah ma's bah zhang!!~~ According to some customs, can only start baoing next yr.. 2 yrs no ah ma bah zhang.. *lemme go out n get a commercialised bah zhang..*

*5 mins later.. Back with bah zhang and some pharaoh mummies on tv..

yeah dah.. the past week was hectic.. SOX for tax was finally up on friday in the late afternoon. Good thing, I'll get the same as last yr instead of the 16 new controls.. *phew* Bad thing, I'm left with 3 days.. 0_0

Working in the retirement village is not easy.. I get thrown practically every thing bcos they're too lazy to learn n bother abt it. i'm left with 3 days for SOX which i haven even collect samples and 2 days for my statements which i haven done the accounts and data inputting part! + IPO haven do and backuping BA for 2 more days. I always lament abt my work ehh..

Worked till 7 on friday, and haven finished my stuff. I'm the only one left in the office, darn creepy and dark and i keep hearing a bam-bam-bam sound on the other side. Quickly pack after i finished my last inventory and walk out of my dept, to see the cleaner coming out of the meeting room. Gave me a scare there! If i'm stationed at Caltex House, i think i'll work till very late since.. everyone there works like there's no tmr. Had wanted to go back office on sat but i'm a night person, wats more i have the talk at 2pm, no point going there for 3 hours and zao. No work will be done..

Attended the enrolment/orientation talk on sat, skipping my drums. It started off with a tour around the school and i was seriously considering zao-ing, but i want to see what they have to say in the talk. Tolerated the climb to the 4th floor Grand Hall where i sat for my bridging exams, 3rd floor to the cafe where i have my dinners sometimes, 2nd floor to the library, and the guide introducing like I'm a totally new student. The talk lasted abt 3 hrs, NO BREAKS!! By the end of the talk, less than half of the attendees were left. The registration damn mah fan. Cant we jus register at SIM once and for all! Still need to go RELC in the coming fortnight and pay 466 pounds = abt 1.2k! Darn, I'll wait till my pay comes b4 i go, and i gotta claim back all my invoices asap. No $$ liao.

Ah bird finally treated me the ktv she owed me since CNY where i qued for her for the bah guah. Its been a while since i went, the system changed, i prefer the old one. Was either watching mtv or dedicating songs more than concentrating on singing, so.. sing wrong a lot of words.. wahahha.. the bird chirps super high, hard to sing with her..

Went Clarke Quay to look for bird's sis setting up a flea store there. We walk the whole of CQ before we found her and.. it was just on the right of where we alighted. As usual, hollanding again. Must find some time to visit the flea market, quite some stuff there. Walked past IndoChine Forbidden City.. So cool~~~ Anyone wanna go??

My laptop's so full of stuff that I've only 200mb free. All the stupid animes series are not enough to fill one dvd on its own! Damn it!! n waiting for some series to finish dl-ing.. arghh.. faster faster.. And I've changed my wallpaper! From Syaoran to.. Syaoran!! HAHA! Spent a few hours dl-ing quite a few walls but the syaoran still prevails.

yeah dah yeah dah.. its back to suffering tmr.. shld plan my time tmr now..

突然累了 by 林俊杰

Back to the cruel reality..

After 3 days of away from office, I thought that I'll be greeted by 100 over emails this morning. Nope, only 46 present. Maybe due to the fact that my 2 bosses are not ard.

Had planned to blog yest, but was too lazy and tired to do so. Plonked my body on my bed after my late lunch and watched Hunter x Hunter till i fell asleep at ard 4+. Pulled myself out of bed at 7.30pm. End result, I'm zoning right now as I couldnt get to sleep till 3+ last night. My brain's not really working. Took me about 30 minutes to reply a SOX email just now and even then, my language's ... I'm running some background reports now, might as well make use of the waiting time to blog.

Firstly, Yup! Over and done with my bridging exams. I will NOT do well. What do you expect from someone who only studied for like 4 hrs for each paper? I only hope i pass. Gimme a C I'll be over the moon. The questions for Maths were about the same as past yr papers and yet I left blank for 30 marks. Reason: I'm not an A Maths student, so I just ignored those intergrels, differentiation stuff. Too lazy to learn. Econs was super easy, that I'm kicking myself after the exams. Even though the questions were hinted, or rather, given, during the lectures, I messed up all my graphs. The lecturer's drawn on the spot graphs were a bit hard to understand if u do not have the questions also, and my notes had only answers, no questions, so dah. For the 3 hrs paper, I drew like, more than 6 graphs, to the point that I dunno which graph is for which and jus whack IS-LM model for most of the questions I dun really understand. I know how to derive with the multiplier, but I forgot the components. Thats 9 marks for the multiplier, for which i just gave a written answer without working. Someone should just chain me to the desk and chair during exam periods. Flipping your 1st page of notes at 12am when the paper is at 10am isnt going to help u score.

Ok, so what's the 3 days of leave for? Hunter x Hunter all the way! I'm left with one episode for the whole series.

I had been thinking, what sort of car will suit me if I'm going to get a car. Perhaps a Suzuki Jimny? $50k for 2nd hand, $60k new. I tried a budget calculator. If I'm willing to pay $500 each mth, $5k downpayment, my budget would be ard $47k.. Nissan X-trail?? Forget it.. $73k 2nd hand, $100k new. I can't really imagine myself driving a Sunny or those kinda saloon cars. Impreza is ard $50k for 2nd hand but I like the WRX model. $85k 2nd hand. Freak out. Most probably I'll get Jimny if I can get $10k comfortably in my bank account 1st. Which means, NOT IN THE NEAR FUTURE!

Rushing some figures for SRC. So dah!~

验伤 by 陈珊妮

I came across an Indian family while I was waiting for bus at Clementi in the evening. Mother, Grandma, 2 sons and 1 daughter. Nope, the kids did not fustrate me by jumping within cm from me. (For some reason, they surrounded me after i slumped myself to the pillar) Nope, they did not irritate me with their louder than my Sony Nude voices. Nope, they dun smell. What disgusts me was the disciplining of the kids. The younger son ate his sweet, n threw the wrapper on the ground, as if nothing happened. Mum saw it, Mum said a few words to him, Son danced off arrogantly, Mum DID NOT PICK UP THE WRAPPER. What kind of discipline is this? No wonder the son was so arrogant. It CAME FROM U MOM!!! Totally disgusted! I was actually thinking of picking up the wrapper IN FRONT OF THE MOM and bring it to where it belonged, hoping to make her realise her failure as a mom. I looked ard, no rubbish bin in sight, n MOM was looking at her phone. NO USE.. She won't know I've picked up the wrapper unless I threw it in her face. Bus came.. I boarded with a reluctant feeling.. I WANTED to shame the mom!! Discipline is by example/action, not a few words! I hope ur precious son turns ur house into a rubbish chute!

Heh.. Enough of evil thoughts. I've only a day left to my exams. Lemme check what exam is it.. Maths. My mum called me up with bad news, my calculator's spoilt! Meaning I've got to spend a few studying hours tmr to get a new one. Not like I'll really spend the few hours studying. I'm so not confident of even getting 34 marks for Monday's exam! Functions, Equations, Derivatives, Matrices, Integrels, they all seem so foreign to me. Must be the fact that I wasnt an A Maths student. Hate Maths Hate Maths!!

Yeah dah. I've took 3 days leave for exams. But my company made it seems like I'm going to be away for a LONG time. Like the biz analyst who's going on leave for a week, they made it seem like he won't be ard for 1 month. And I've been placed as his backup during the "1 month". I've started the biz plan, n I've done the figures for my boss's and my dept. I predict there's loads more stuff to come. And I'm left with 4 freaking days for my customs report which I have NOT started!

Busted $120 on Friday at Jean Yip. I'm a GIM MOH GIA NO MORE!!! HA! I've darkened my hair color, still adapting to it. Sat there from 7++ to 9++. Went thru abt 5 mags. The fellas there keep changing my mags even though I've not even flipped a page. And surprisingly, seems like quite a few ppl noe me there. (I only noe Karen <- my hairdresser and Aleric <- the guy who cut my hair damn short..)

While i was at the sink..
Some fella: Wahh ur hair so long liao, how long u took? 1 yr?? I almost couldnt recognise u!?!
Me: Heh??
Some fella: Dat time u cut boy cut. From here leh!! *points above ear* Now SO LONG!
Me: Haha..
I think he's the in-charge. I couldnt see him clearly. He was standing at my blind spot. (I was washing my hair rem.)

The haircut, or rather trim, costs $20. Dye and treatment was from a package I took earlier on. And I got psychoed to renew the package. $408 (short hair) compared to $768 (long hair). Mine was considered long now, but if i renew, I'll be paying the short hair price. Its $300 bucks difference!! So the $100 was for the deposit although i planned to try out Grace's hairdresser the next time for rebonding. Anyway the package has no expiry.

Continue with my HunterxHunter watching. WAIT!! Aint I supposed to be studying!?!! I need someone to chain me to the books!! Its hard to study n work at the same time. I feel so indifferent to the exams..

如果有一天 by 戴敏非

Grab a paper and pencil and ready to find out how much Libra is in your personality! Read each of the following situations over and quickly assess (go with your first instincts) whether you agree with the statement. For every statement you a agree with, jot down a tally mark. At the end of the quiz you will find instructions on how to interpret your score.

THE LIBRA QUIZ

1. I tend to put the needs of others before my own.
Not Really...

2. When it comes to work, I much prefer a team environment to complete projects rather than completing work alone.
I rather do it myself..

3. Nothing gets me more upset than when someone doesn't play 'by the rules' or look out for the 'other guy'.
1 Its not the ultimate straw thou..

4. I never have had a short term relationship with someone. I have never 'dated', and the few relationships that I have had lasted years.
2 Nvr dated..

5. I don't like change. For example, I don't see moving into a new home or getting a new job as an adventure, I see it as disruptive.
3 I dun like change.. lazy to readapt..

6. I avoid confrontation with co-workers and friends at all costs, even if it means that I have to step down from a personal opinion.
4 yeah da yeah dah..

7. People have told me that I tend to be indecisive, but I think I just take my time weighing the pros and cons of a situation.
5 Hanor!! i'm weighing.. hahha

8. I am happiest when I have a significant other. I do not like the single life at all.
6 Hehh.. at least he's always there when i wanna go shopping..

9. When a long term project comes up at work, I excel at putting together a strategy for making the project a success.
Nahh.. lazy to coordinate..

10. Cocktail parties, the theater, and the opera are typical social events for me.
No Way..

11. I am excellent at saying just the right thing to people. I have never had to put my foot in my mouth.
My foot is always stretching my mouth..

12. I have never been divorced and I don't even understand how a marriage could ever end.
7 Hmm..

13. I'd say my worst habit is my tendency to be a gossip.

14. I would say that I am artistic. I love to enjoy and create beautiful things.
8 Yeahh.. autistic oso.. hahhah

15. Sometimes, if I am feeling bored, I can fall into a rut and become very lazy and apathetic. It is best for my spirits if I keep myself busy.
9 I'll stone..

16. I love learning as much as I can about the people I know. Sometimes my friends accuse me of "doing an interview" or "playing psychologist."
10 Hmm?? Agree sentence 1.. but i was nvr accused..

19. I love to keep up with the most current fashions. You will never catch me wearing last year's styles!
I dun really care..

20. No matter how much I disagree with my partner on a certain issue, I always look for a compromise.
12 Yeahhhh..

Your score: Every tally mark you made has a value of five percent. For example, if you agreed with 15 of the statements, you have a score of (15 x 5) 75%. This would mean that 75% of your personality characteristics fall in line with a typical Libra?

My Score:
12 x 5 = 60%
!!!! I'm only 60% a Libran!!

What is a "typical" Libra personality?

Libra (born September 23-October 23) is the Seventh sign of the Zodiac. If you spot a Libra, you are likely to notice how well dressed they are. If you visit a Libra in their home, you will discover an equally fashionable atmosphere. They are artistic people that use their creative abilities both in work and play. Those under the Libra sign are very careful decision makers, always weighing to pros and cons of any situation before acting. Librans are polite and good-natured people that like to avoid ruffling any feathers. They have a gift for communication and use it to their advantage, but always fairly and diplomatically. A Libra is one of the biggest cheerleaders for the spirit of cooperation that you will ever encounter. Librans are known as the "great diplomats" of the Zodiac.

自得其乐 by 戴敏非

Its June.. My pinky finger's still recovering from last friday's kana-coerced-to-go bowling session. Only 3 games n i brought back a twisted/sprained/nerved-injured pinky. Ironically, its not swollen, but i'm having a hard time on the keyboard with the right shift. I'm DAT bloody weak...

I spent the last 2 days doing crap stuff for my boss. 3 hrs to rush out a MSWord flowchart drawn from scratch n according to a Visio document. It feels like ITAB exam. Did OT yest for Biz Planning. Actually i just had to add 5% to this yr's budget, but i had to take into considerations some external factors and redo the numerous figures into a layman format and the fact dat i was given the stuff at 5pm doesnt seem good. I m a walking MSOffice..

Highly recommending the singer above, Dai Min Fei, dat is, if u're into folk-jazz music. He is.. ya lah.. Penny's brother, but he has the talent. I got his cd from Yahoo auctions by chance. Simple tunes, easy to understand lyrics, its a break from the commercialised pop music dats blasting in the radios everyday..

SAP is hanging. n they're gonna move the server to US! How worse can it get?
